Fun Fall Activities You Can Do With Your Dog

Fall is one of the best seasons for going on outdoor adventures. You’re past the summer heat, it’s (usually) not too cold yet and you probably won’t have to trudge through spring rains when taking advantage of nature’s beauty in the great outdoors. That’s why this season’s mild weather calls for fall fun activities you can do with friends and family – including your four-legged family member!

Here are a few ways to celebrate autumn with your loved ones and dog.

Visit An Orchard

Planning to go apple or pumpkin picking this fall? Make plans soon before the orchards close down around the first frost – usually by mid-November. Stopping at a farm or orchard is one of the most popular fun fall activities you can do on a beautiful autumn day to take advantage of the season. Search for farms that offer dog-friendly picking and read the rules you’ll need to follow.

Wear your best fall fashions that will look fantastic against a backdrop of nature’s orange, yellow, red and brown canvas. Put the dog in a festive bandana or fun accessory that matches the family’s outfits. You might even want to turn this fall fun activity into a photo for a holiday card! (Here’s how to take dog pictures that turn out perfectly every time.) Make sure you pack plenty of treats to reward your pup for being a good boy or girl – so your pup can join the delicious fun we recommend Chick’ n’ Apple biscuits for Apple Picking or pumpkin flavored Pick of the Patch.

Bring the Dog to a Winery or Brewery

You may have wondered if dogs can accompany you to wineries or breweries this fall and how to best plan for that fall trip. Search “dog-friendly wineries near me” or “dog-friendly breweries near me” online to see which businesses would love to welcome your four-legged pal while you sip some vino and brews. Taking your dog to a winery is great way to take advantage of optimal fall weather and spend quality time together in a new environment on your day off. You’ll probably find it helpful to bring a friend or two to grab the drinks inside while you nab a spot to sit outside with your pooch. You can call ahead to ask if the dog-friendly brewery or dog-friendly winery has water, bags and trash receptacles or if you’ll need to bring supplies.

Go On a Dog-Friendly Hike

One of our favorite parts of fall is exploring new trails and leaf peeping on a cool autumn day while exercising with our dogs. Search for “dog friendly hikes near me” to discover local hiking trails as a fall fun activity. If your dog doesn’t mind longer car rides, consider going on a dog hike in a place you haven’t been before. Make sure you pack plenty of water, a bowl for your pooch to drink out of, doggie bags, their leash, and treats to reward your dog for being a good girl or boy. When you return home – or before you get in the car – check your dog for ticks. Remember to pack some of our P-Nuttier treats in your backpack to help keep your dog’s energy up and show lots of love after all of that exercise!
